1. Season theme: Plague Demon.
Lilith's evil plot has abnormally given birth to a new threat: Plague Monsters. These rotten evil monsters roam wildly in Sanctuary, attacking anyone in range without hesitation. Travelers will investigate this mysterious disease in new storyline missions with the help of Priest Komond of the Cathedral of Light. Komond will also train you to capture the Hearts of Plague that fuel these evil beasts and transform them into power to change yourself. The evil in the Burning Hell Army must be controlled - you must eradicate it at the source before it enslaves all of Sanctuary.
To keep up with the relentless enmity of the evil monsters, you need to make their hearts betray them. Killing some corrupted enemies (a type of malignant monster) will drop a Heart of Plague. These can be captured by performing a ritual using the 'Cage of Binding' obtained in seasonal missions. Partly corrupted enemies are formidable foes that won't easily fall. Attempting to seize their hearts will cause partly corrupted enemies to be reborn as fully corrupted enemies. If you defeat them again, these rotten hybrids will drop another version of the Plague Demon heart, which you can put into a special infection slot in your jewel, replacing ordinary gems.
Our first season will introduce 32 different Plague Demon hearts, divided into 4 types, offering new and unique rewards. As you encounter more formidable evil creatures, the power of their wicked hearts will also increase. There is more to share about the theme of this season, which we will provide in the future.
One of the best places to obtain the Heart of Plague is the new Malicious Tunnel, a dungeon that can be repeatedly challenged, filled with terrible enemies to be eliminated. If you dare, search for the catalyst of the malignant monsters in this damp tunnel system and confront Varshan the Consumed in a direct confrontation, which will be a brand-new boss fight.
2. New Season Mechanism.
With the 'Plague Season' beginning on July 21, we wanted to take some time to provide you with all the information needed for the season.
To participate in the season, you must create a new character in seasonal mode. You do not need to purchase a combat pass or any additional add-ons to experience the season content, but you must complete the campaign in Eternal or Season server with at least one character. After completing the campaign, any seasonal character can start the game in the following ways:
Option to skip the storyline.
Mount is available immediately.
All previously discovered Lilith's Altars have been unlocked, along with the reputation they contain.
All discovered areas on the map will be displayed, along with the reputation they contain.
At the end of the season, the character you created and its progress will be transferred to the Eternal server. All items you collected, including those in your season chest, will also be transferred. You can bring this character into the Sanctuary at any time, but season-specific features (such as Plague Demon hearts) will no longer be available.

3. Season Journey and Battle Pass Rewards
As you hunt down corrupted monsters to acquire their hearts for empowering yourself and collaborate with Komond to uncover the source of corruption, you will earn rewards from the Season Journey and Battle Pass.
The Season Journey is divided into chapters with tasks to be completed. As you progress through the journey, you will earn rewards suitable for the defenders of Sanctuary, such as new legendary powers, mastery titles, and the Scroll of Forgetfulness, which provides a free skill tree and pinnacle reset. The journey also offers Favor, a resource used to climb Battle Pass ranks, which is earned naturally by playing the game, whether it's slaying demons, completing quests, and more
The Plague Battle Pass season starts at 1:00 AM Beijing time on July 21, with a total of 90 levels, 27 free levels, and 63 premium levels. Embers of Ember are obtained from the free levels and can be used to purchase Season Blessings. Depending on the blessing you choose, it provides drop rate bonuses for experience, gold, or rare materials. The rewards obtained from Season Blessings will only be available until the end of the Plague Season.
If you obtain the premium Battle Pass, you not only have access to the rewards from the free levels but also exclusive rewards such as the Ascendant Armor Set, mounts and mount armor, platinum coins, and more!
If you have purchased the digital Deluxe Edition or Ultimate Edition of Diablo IV and wish to redeem the Battle Pass for this season, navigate to the "Season" section in the store and select the option to activate your Battle Pass.
