"Diablo IV" PVP will not be absolutely fair?

Diablo IV's PVP environment "Hate Field" does have some systems to ensure the relative balance of strength of all parties on the battlefield, but don't get me wrong, this design does not intend to ensure absolute fairness. In a recent interview, lead game producer Kayleigh Calder explained that while there's no matchmaking system, you won't encounter other players whose strength far exceeds your item and ability level. Although there may be "some changes", it will certainly not let some experienced and old players play casually in the field of hatred.

"Diablo IV" PVP will not be absolutely fair?

In terms of combat, Joseph Piepiora, the deputy director of the game, said that if you want to beat other players, you must have a good build instead of relying on luck like rock-paper-scissors. Of course, the situation will be even more favorable if players can attack each other unexpectedly.

Piepiora explained: "The system that players enter is not to ensure absolute fairness. This is not a dueling system. The field of hatred is a place to kill people, not a place for fairness and reputation."

"Seize the opportunity to avoid attacks, use potions, hit more and save more potions than the opponent, this will make a huge difference. And when the opponent is busy participating in certain activities or fighting BOSS, the result will also be very different. Not the same. The field of hate is such a life-and-death essence.”
As far as PvP balance is concerned, Diablo 4 players may find that powerful skill and item combinations require tweaking. But no one wants to make the game too boring.

"Diablo IV" PVP will not be absolutely fair?

Piepiora said: "We don't want to make a balance in terms of fun, and we don't want players to feel obviously weaker after entering the environment. So what we want to ensure is that if you are too strong in the PVP environment, you will encounter some Very strong PVE or PVP opponent."

Piepiora said that the development team did not intend to "design PVP as a balanced experience in a specific area of hatred", this is not a traditional matchmaking gameplay, you have to face multiple other players, and also consider bosses and other demons.

If you don't like PVP, you don't have to play it. Calder says it's an optional activity, you don't stumble across an open field like this and get hacked to death out of nowhere. And the rewards of this event are also decorative, and all power-up props can be found in other graduation events of "Diablo 4".
